The Star-Spangled Banner performed by The Strafford Wind Symphony
Join the Strafford Wind Symphony as we celebrate our 22nd season performing for audiences along the New England coastline. Our fifty members include music educators, professionals, dedicated amateurs, and students who all share a passion for performance.
OUR MISSION
The Strafford Wind Symphony’s purpose is to provide opportunities for enhanced growth and life – long musical expression through challenging musical experiences for its members, musical educational assistance for younger musicians, and the performance of concerts aimed at entertaining a wide range of audiences, supporting the history and heritage of the American Community Band.
We enjoy coming back to familiar places to share the music, but also seek to perform for new audiences. As a nonprofit organization, we are dependent upon the generosity of our families, friends, neighbors and business community to help us keep the music playing from year to year. For more info on how you can book us for your event, or how to become a member of the Strafford Wind Symphony, call 603-749-9246 or email SWSGenMgr@gmail.com.

La Fiesta Mexicana
American composer, H. Owen Reed, was raised in Odessa, Missouri listening to old time fiddle music. After earning numerous music degrees, he spent time studying composition and eventually wrote his most well-known composition, La Fiesta Mexicana, with the support of a Guggenheim Fellowship. This work was based on Aztec, mariachi, Roman Catholic and other music he heard while visiting Mexico in 1947 and 1948.
Reed taught at Michigan State University for 37 years and has since served as professor emeritus. 2012 marks his 102nd birthday!
